Write
Killer Articles That Sell - Part 2:
In this part we are going to
look at the structure of your articles. An important point to remember
is to make sure you write relevant articles. So if your title says
“Play Effective Soccer” you will need to provide
information on just that. Don’t
ramble about how to buy soccer gear or what the latest soccer result
was. Provide information on how to play effective soccer, such as
training tips, tactics, techniques and more.
Headline: The
headline or title is probably
the most important step in getting visitors interested enough to click
through to your article. It is also the most difficult one as we
can’t use titles that are as long as a paragraph. We need to
catch people’s attention straight away. If we don’t
they are gone – forever!
Introduction:
In
the Introduction paragraph we are trying to establish a connection
between the article and our readers. What many inexperienced writers do
is write something along the lines of:” this article is to
explain how” - I can pretty much tell you that this is bad. There
are better ways to convey your message in the article. One thing that
will help you is to write exactly how you tell a story. When you tell a
story you don’t start out by saying: this story is
about…No, you say something like:” yesterday, I
went shopping at my local butchers. You won’t believe what
happened next.”
This
will create attention and expectancy with your audience. If you can
“magnetize” your audience when writing they will
eat out of your hands.
Main Content:
The
main content is the body of the article. It will serve to cover some of
the main topics of our article. It is impossible for us to relate all
the information about a certain subject in one article. Remember, the
main reason we write is to bring traffic to our website, make money or
get better search engine rankings. All those things fall back to one
thing in the end. We are here to make money. So don’t tell
them everything on the topic you write about.
Wet their appetite and draw the
closer by wanting more. It’s the attraction factor of our
words that will determine our writing skills and success level.
Resource Box: As you know by now the
resource box is the backdoor of our articles. By creating a catchy
resource box you will get people to click from your articles to your
website. Bait them with something like a free report, or an e-book.
After all you want them to click through don’t you?
