Maybe you are familiar with the following scenario: It was gone midnight and you were still sitting on your computer last night, trying to figure out… and now it’s morning. You had to get up early to go to work or get your kids to school. You feel like crap. Again you haven’t slept much and your energy levels are non existent. You swear to yourself that today you will go to bed early so you can get a good nights sleep, only to find yourself in front of your computer past midnight again with another reason to stay up late. So you keep turning and turning until you explode or else have a breakdown.
I know exactly how above scenario feels, as I have experienced it over and over again for months. Yes, I wanted to juggle work and my online business. I wanted to make money quickly, so I had to build this website, organize that ad campaign and input those articles into my blog. But I did run myself into the ground hard and fast. So far, that I had to take 3 months off all business related work, as I was simply burnt out and couldn’t take any more.
I was basically operating on autopilot and nothing new would register. Plus I got really edgy and who knows, how my hubby could live with me during that time? I have to be thankful he did and that he supported me through this. In order to juggle work, business and time off, I had to learn to find a balance between all. Oh yes, I had heard about it and thought I had it all in control. The things is, I became addicted to learning and the internet. So I soaked up more and more info and therefore run myself down.
To find the balance in my life I had to scale back. Scale back on certain commitments, none important internet related stuff and also trying to do too much. After all I can’t be everywhere and know everything. I learnt that in order to manage the balance in our lives, less is more. So these days I simply allow time for everything. And if I catch myself slipping into internet “sucker mode” again I get up from my chair and do something else. So far this had worked magic for me and I seem to achieve more too than ever before. So if YOU find yourself on the verge of burn out, take a break and “smell the roses”. ![]()
