5 Reasons on Why You Should Blog

Blogging is an everyday event for thousand upon thousands of internet users. If you wondered what “the fuss is all about”, then think again. Have you noticed that the top bloggers have the most traffic? Or that they quietly earn a fortune on the internet?

Reason 1

To blog is to make a statement about yourself, a statement of who you really are and were your interests lie. When you blog, you can be creative beyond your imagination, as most blogging platforms allow you to personalize the templates you are using. The list of options is virtually endless. From templates to themes to plugins, you can choose – chop and change to your hearts content. Once you are happy with the “look” of your blog you can present it to the world by adding content.
Besides that are also the ever increasing options to add your blog to blog directories. These directories will list your blog url upon acceptance on their website. This not only improves your incoming links, but also your overall free traffic.

Free traffic can be worth a fortune on the internet. If you have your own website, then a blog is the perfect way to drive a lot of traffic to your website. The reason we should use this as a tool are twofold.

_First: Creating your own blog is free. For a trade of time you invest into your blog, you can create an ever increasing flow of able visitors to your main website by linking your blog to it. The first aim of every marketer is to make money (unless you are running a non profit organisation). To make money is to get as much free traffic to your sites as you possibly can.
_Second: Having you own blog will help you to build credibility and raise your search engine likeability. Search engines love blogs. If you do a search on just about any topic you will most often find that blogs rank very high in the “organic” results.

Reason 2

You can monetize your blog. To monetize your blog is to make money with it. The options are many fold. From google adwords, amazon, cafe press, to writing for pay you can earn a nice little income as a “new” blogger. In order to successfully implement this part, you will need to make sure you write a blog that has good content first before attempting to earn money. Please see my website www.thewritersmanifesto.com for more details.

Reason 3

Blogging will not only increase your serach engine trafficand your income (if you implement step 2). It will also increase your overall ability to write well. It will increase your knowledge on the topics you write about and eventually this can lead to you becoming a knowledgeable specialist in your field.
Being a specialist can open up a whole new world of opportunities for you.

Reason 4

By actively updating your blog you will become part of a wider community. This can be a great advantage to you and your business. It builds invaluable contacts. These contacts might help you in the future to form important JV’s. Another advantage of being in a community is to belong to a group of like minded people. Others might start to recommend your services on their website. If your services compliment what they offer.
Take the following example; if you are the owner of a blog that talks about “hairdressing scissors” then a blog owner that writes about “hairdressing in general” might add your blog to their list of recommended resources. I don’t have to mention what this can do for your extra traffic :-)

Reason 5

I left the most obvious reason to last. Why? Because it is in my eyes the most important one. To blog right is to blog often. It has to be fun. If you don’t like updating your blog at least 3 times per week than you might not want to start your own blog. It would only become a chore for you and it would be all done in vain. So before you do start your won blog ask yourself a couple of questions.

_1: do you really have the time, the passion and the drive to start your own blog and stick with it for months and years to come?
_2: are you going to blog with the intention of sharing your knowledge first, or attempting to make money. I’ll let you in on a secret! If you are blogging to share your passion and your knowledge with the world you will fare much better in the long run. Give your visitors a lot of great and free information. They will pay you back with trust, respect and loyalty.
