Alexa Rankings
If you have been around the block for a while you would have heard about Alexa no doubt. Alexa is a subsidiary of Amazon and measures your websites traffic and rank. The rank is determined by how many people are visiting your site on a daily basis and if you want to be along the movers and shakers you will need to be within the top 100,000 websites.
There are a few things you can do however to improve your Alexa rankings and therefore your websites visibility. I set myself a challenge to improve my Alexa rankings to within at least 500,000 within the next 2 months. See how I go
The following 14 steps will be implemented by me to achieve this hopefully.
1) Install the Alexa Tool bar from www.alexa.com or alternatively if you are using Firefox you can install the Search Status Extension
2) Install the Alexa Rank widget on your blog or website. You can get it from Alexa (just scroll to the widgets page)
3) Create an Alexa category on your blog and blog about Alexa frequently. Assign those entries to this new category.
4) Submit your Site/Blog to high traffic networks, such as Stumbled, MyBlogLog, Digg, Technorati
5) Use Alexa redirects to your site. Try this http://redirect.alexa.com/redirect?www.thewritersmanifesto.com
Substitute my url with your own!
6) Create a MySpace profile and link back to your website.
7) If you can afford it use pay per click advertising on Google or other high search engines. (I won’t bother with this at present!)
Participate with and use redirect URL in forums!
9) Get friends to review your Alexa profile
10) Spread the word about Alexa. The more people are using it, the better for all involved!
11) Write about webmaster related issues on your blog/site
12) Install webmaster tools on your website
13) If you have more than 1 computer at home, install Alexa Tool bar on all of them
14) Post in high frequency communities.Think other ethnics groups, interests
