Stimulating Those Thoughts
For those of you involved in writing you know that unless we are consistently trying to stimulate our thoughts, we tend to get lost in mind space. Stimulation of thought can be achieved in many ways. For starters, there are always books we can read. It doesn’t really matter, whether they are off topic, as when we are most relaxed we have the greatest ideas.
I happen to have my most creative stimulating thoughts between 11PM and 1AM on most days. Trouble is that I can’t be up and about to work on those ideas. I would disturb my hubby and my pets too much. This used to frustrate me to the point where I couldn’t sleep. Instead I was filling my husband’s ears at 1 AM in the morning with this and that. Naturally that wasn’t a good solution for either of us. So in order to keep those stimulated thoughts flowing I resorted to a simple notebook and pen next to my bed.
It helps. I found that what kept me awake was not the necessary point of action on a stimulating thought. It was more so the fact that I couldn’t let go of it because I was afraid to loose the idea for ever. Being able to write down those ideas now help me to clear my brain for that much needed sleep after all.
