Basics of Writing Articles

If you’re looking at learning the basics of writing articles for profit, then there are a few things that you are going to need to know. While this article doesn’t claim to be a complete tutorial on how to write an effective article it should help to get you off on the right foot should you decide that writing articles on the Internet is something that you want to pursue.

The first point you need to consider when writing an article is to decide what it is that you want to write on. The list that you can choose from is almost limitless, because there are so many topics in the world. It is best to start with writing articles about things that you either know about or are familiar with. This way the process of writing articles will be a lot easier for you.
Once you have chosen a topic, you need to pick the direction you want, which will ultimately lead to choosing a title. Take the following example. Let’s say you want to write about birds and the direction you choose is “Birds of Australia”. Obviously this will take a bit of research, unless you are a walking bird encyclopedia. But at least this will allow you to get started with writing an article.

When you do your research in writing articles, you need to be able to get comfortable with the subject. Allow yourself to read a minimum of 3 related articles whether online of offline doesn’t matter. Then take your new found knowledge and put it into your own words to write an article yourself. This will get easier as you progress. Initially this is the most time consuming part of writing articles.

Organize your article into paragraphs or sections. Start of with an introduction followed by the body which should contain around 3 paragraphs. Keep the paragraphs related to key points and use this section to bring the main message of your written article across. This makes it also easier for the eye. If you write your whole article in one clump, it makes it very hard for readers to follow your story and keep concentrated at the same time. Breaking your written article into sections will actually relax the eye.
Follow that up by proofreading your written article a few times. You might have to correct certain words or sentences before you are happy. Make sure you use the spell check feature too. When writing articles we must use our professionalism. That includes writing without umpteen spelling mistakes.

These are the basics of writing articles. If applied they will get you on your way to write articles for profit.
