Have you got a Business Plan?

Being in business ourselves we need to have a business plan in order to know, where we are headed. Having a business plan is much like having a road map. Without it we probably get lost. When we work hard at achieving something in our business it would defy commons sense to just let it all go, because we failed to implement a business plan.

Implementing a business plan isn’t that hard to do. The first thing we need to look at is to where we are headed in our business. What is our final destination? Have we got dreams, targets or deadlines we want to achieve.
This will give us a starting point. Business plans are always written down. So grab a pen and paper, sit somewhere quiet and think about your targets.

The trick when writing down a business plan is to start with the end in mind first. You need to focus on short term, medium term and long term targets and write them down. You short term targets are from the present up to 1 year, your medium term targets are around 1- 5 years and your long term targets would be anywhere above that.
If you don’t achieve your business plan’s target every single time, don’t worry too much. Most people don’t either. What’s important here is to realize that even if we don’t achieve our targets, we have stretched ourselves to grow.

Once you have a rough sketch on your paper its time to get serious. Do some brain storming, it often helps to ask a family member, friend or even better a business associate to give you their input. You need to gain another perspective to see what others actually think of your business plan. Once you start your business it will be much harder to turn back or take a totally different turn.
Structure your targets into an understandable plan. This will be the foundation off your business plan.

Next you need to build on this block by block. Look at what might help you to get there faster. Is there a type of advertising you can implement? Can you enroll the help of a trusted friend? Do you need to earn extra amounts of dollars to achieve your target quicker? It is to your advantage if you develop some plan of action and action steps for every single target in your business plan.
Make sure however that these action steps are realistic and easy to stick with. If you try to chew too much at once you will most likely giving up at the point of exhaustion.

Working your business plan requires discipline and a vision from you. You need to see yourself in your future, as if you were already living that lifestyle you so desperately want. This will help you to stay on track when the going gets tough. Every business has its up and downs. You just need to assure that you keep your business plan at the forefront of your mind when you feel like running away from it all.

Designing a business plan doesn’t require you to be a rocket scientist. All you need is a dream, a vision, a desire and passion to achieve. Put this into a business plan which becomes your very own recipe for success!
