Stop But’ing Yourself!

Posted by Monika in Freelance Writing Ar... | 06.28.2007 - 10:16 am

The word but is a show stopper. It is responsible for more failures and “no action” than we can possibly think about. But is a criminal word, because it inhibits our growth and therefore our chances at success. The difficulties in our lives are caused by the unseen thoughts and processes of habit. This will release a wave of negativity. The problem with this is that the more we focus on the negative, the more negativity we seem to attract. So things go from bad to worse and before we know it we are in a deadly downward spiral.

The good news is that we can act anytime to get ourselves out of a big negative hole by addressing our ever changing issues and dealing with them on a realistic level. Issues are forever surfacing in any person’s life. The secret to dealing with them effectively is to address them head on. Using but as an excuse will only make us a weaker person and one in denial. I read somewhere that but = bloody useless thoughts. This is a fair description of the negative powers this word holds. Having been a but’er in the past myself I now know that I have limited myself from growing earlier on in my life and most likely missed out on early success because of it.

To deal with the “but’s” in our lives we need to identify the processes and issues that are happening. Women are genetically tending to but more than men, because of their need to be approved from another person before they feel worthy enough. This stems from our inbuilt need to nurture, care and looking after our families needs first. So as a women we are more prone to saying “I would love to, but” (I can’t because I need to do the washing, shopping, cleaning and whatever else excuse reason we can come up) We need to learn to balance this and avoid saying but in order to allow us to grow and experience new ventures in life.

But’s cause negativity as in the instance we say the word, we often regret it. I implore you to take action and get rid of that criminal word. If you focus on the worst case scenario then that is what you will attract! The purpose of everyone’s life is to live life to the fullest, not to dwell on the negative and paddle in the shallow end of the pool of possibilities. After all, what have you got to loose?
