Successful Presentations of MLM

Posted by Monika in Freelance Writing Ar... | 06.28.2007 - 6:14 pm

In network marketing or multi level marketing we rely on successful presentations of our products and our business. MLM is a short abbreviated version of multi level marketing which is the art of sponsoring new team members when recruiting. In MLM there is one thing all distributors have in common. If no product is sold, then nobody makes money. Learning the art of successful presentations will help you to put money in your pocket and grow your business.

Most MLM businesses demonstrate their products and their business plan via party plan events. These events can range from one on one demonstration to having thousands of prospects in the same room. More modern versions of party plan are being utilized on the internet by holding live online conferences. But there is a huge difference between a demonstration and a successful demonstration. A successful demonstration requires knowledge about the art of selling and even though most people say they aren’t a sales person, the matter of fact is that they are. When we grow up we learn the art of recommendation. Recommending things we eat, shop, see, and hear is in fact a pre-sell. When we tell our friends and family about these great things they feel inclined to try it as well because of our recommendation (pre–sell). So we all have it in us somewhere to be a good presenter of a successful demonstration.

The factors that might work against us are often governed by our minds. Thinking too much of the wrong things, like: “I wonder whether I look professional enough”, or “have I done enough preparations”? If you go into a presentation with the intention of selling, you will find it hard to make sales. Yes, it sounds like I contradict myself here but I am not. You NEED to understand what it is that drives people to buying, but you must not under any circumstances be a pushy sales person. The secret lies in the fine act of balance.

What makes people buy? There are different reasons, but probably the three most specific ones would be:

1) People buy because they try to find a logical reason on why they need this product right now.
2) They also buy because they like the person demonstrating to them
3) Most often they are inclined to buy because of emotions. Whatever makes them feel better. They see a product and associate it with good times.

To lead a successful presentation you need to establish credibility first with your potential customers. This is the first most important step in the process. By allowing others to trust you they will be prone to buying more freely.
When you demonstrate to people engage them and appeal to their emotions, feelings and dreams. If possible give samples for them to try. If you belief in the product yourself, the better your credibility and your chances at selling. People are not dumb and they can honestly feel whether you just blabber about a studied product or whether you really love the product yourself. Your enthusiasm will drive sales too as it is infectious.
Be honest and don’t pretend to know everything. If you don’t know the answers to a question admit it and offer to get back to the customer by contacting your company first. Don’t even worry about the technical side of things as this will turn people away from you. They simply loose their interest. In general people want to know these things:
• What is the product?
• What does the product do for me?
• Why would I need this?
• How would it make me feel?
• How much does it cost?

If you manage to portray the products to your potential customers so that they justify their emotions with logic, you will be onto a winner – a successful presentation. Also don’t forget to close the sale by asking for it.

Great post. An in depth explanation of why the key to Network Marketing is solving a problem for the potential customer or business partner. I also like how you are not afraid to use the “S” word. Selling.

Keep up the good work.
