Plugins Matter

As an avid blogger I’m always on the hunt for great tools that help me save time. One of these tools I recently discovered is a neat plugin, that can help many frustrated FTP users to make do without. Well, for most of Word press anyway. The plugin has been around for a while but I believe that many bloggers aren’t even aware it exists. It was designed by a Anirudh Sanjeev as his first attempt to dabble with php design and plugins.

What it does: Besides being packaged as a neat Firefox extension it allows us to right click on any Word Press plugin and theme and save it to our hard drive. Via the Word Press admin we can simply click on the ONE CLICK plugin tab and download either any saved plugins or themes from our hard drives directly into our blog admin.

This is fantastic for those who are a bit challenged with the technical aspects of FTP usage and will eliminate this problem for most of the time. Also if your firewall is very strong like mine, it is sometimes a huge annoyance to get things working properly. I have found that I wasn’t able to use certain websites properly due to my firewall.

As a Word Press fanatic, I truly believe this plugin to be one of the very best I have ever seen. I’m pretty confident that those of you who are using this plugin actively would totally agree. I would love to hear your opinion on this and whether it works as well for you.

You can download the One Click plugin from here.

Thanks for visiting

Monika :-)

I’d love to add more plug-ins to my Firefox, but it has a tendency to crash every now and then and I know that adding more just makes it worse. Each time a new update comes out, I grab it in the hope that it will fix that bug, but Mozilla still haven’t done it!

That said, I still prefer Firefox to any other browser, so I’ll just wait it out.

This is a pretty cool plugin, only thing I’d be concerned with is when the plugins are named the same. I have had 2 plugins named the excat same.

@Terry: It might not be ‘all’ of your plugins, but rather one crappy one! Try to find out what is causing your FireFox to crash a lot. You can disable them all and slowly start to enable them in hopes of finding out. I know that I’ve uninstalled some bad ones after having a rough time with FF and it was better after I got rid of them.

    Thanks Sarah,
Glad you mentioned this actually as I had some crashes myself before. I also use FF and by disabling like you said and then one by one enabling I was able to find the “cause”.

Also, some plugins don’t work with certain templates I found. It’s often a try. Most do work but some are more so a headache.
