RSS Explained - Lifting the Mystery of RSS FEEDS

Posted by Monika in Tech, ... | 10.30.2007 - 8:13 pm

RSSWhat is RSS? RSS is a term used to for Real Simple Syndication. RSS is used for distribution of content on the Internet with an XML based format. This sounds rather geeky at first and maybe that’s why many bloggers and Internet users still shy away from RSS.

But you don’t have to be scared of RSS as it is simply a great way to keep track of your favorite websites by subscribing to their RSS feed.

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS Feed. Thanks for visiting! And please feel free to comment. Top commenter's will go into my weekly Link Love Pot

As bloggers we strive for certain things to validate to us that we are on the right track. And no, I’m not talking about PR here either. When you post on your blog you mainly want for three things to happen.

  1. You want for your readers to give you feedback and share with you what they think in regards to your post.
  2. You want your reader to become a long term visitor by subscribing to your blogs RSS feed. Whether that is by RSS reader, email or bookmarking.

I found this cartoon rather fitting to the current situation. There is a certain irony attached to it and the question of link baiting arises?

Google Page Rank From 0-3 in 1 Day

Posted by Monika in Tech, Monthly Contes... | 10.27.2007 - 3:59 pm

Well, not really but it does sound rather nice doesn’t it!? As of today it is finally official. Google are rolling out the long awaited Page Rank and my blog has gone from 0 - 3.

I stated before that I wasn’t really fazed about the whole PR discussion as I always felt like it would happen one day. And this day has arrived by the looks of it. Naturally it will make my blog more attractive to advertisers now if I was to choose that option. Many of the big boys went down from a 6 or 7 to 4 and nobody knows why. Many speculations have been made across the net in the last few weeks and in reality, we might never know why.

5 Ways To Monetize Your Forum

Posted by Monika in Tech, Monthly Contes... | 10.26.2007 - 12:43 pm

Forums are a great way to attract hungry blog visitors. We all know this and if you don’t, then listen up as forums have brought me a lot of visitors to my sites. Visitors = money! At least if we try to monetize the site. I admit that so far I haven’t done much in that direction, at least not with this site. But monetizing through forums is certainly a way to get ahead in the game of marketing.

How I find Blogging Ideas

Posted by Monika in Tech, Monthly Contes... | 10.25.2007 - 4:40 pm

This post has been inspired by Chris Brogan and his post “100 Blog Topics I hope You Write“. I decided to use # 9 “how I find blogging ideas” with this post and have also book marked the list for future use. Generally I’m never short of ideas to blog about.

This might sound like I’m bragging, but I can assure you that I’m not. I simply have so much accumulated knowledge and experience that I always find something to blog about. But not only that, I also blog about my failures, my mile stones of my journey and pretty much everything else that reflects my life as a blogger. My post on how I find blogging ideas will show you what I read, do or think in order to get inspired.

Sometimes all we need is a bit of inspiration:

1.) - Be yourself. Don’t try to fit in with everybody’s expectations. Blogging is all about being and staying unique, even if it means that we miss out in the short term because we refuse to follow common trends.

2.) - Build traffic by making new friends and commit yourself for the long term to grow your online community.
