How To Seize Opportunities
Opportunities is what gives us individuals the edge. Whether it is the edge on competition, or on the market place it really doesn’t matter much. What matters though is that we have to seize opportunities when they are presented to us. Sometimes this actually involves stepping out of our comfort zone.
But how can we seize opportunities? And how do we even know they are there to be seized? Well, that’s a very good question and I’m sure many of you might find it hard to look in the right direction. Sometimes I found that the best opportunities are within direct sight in our life and by thinking outside the proverbial box we can actually learn to see them.
As a writer, blogger and marketer I’m always on the lookout for opportunities that allow me to get more work, gain more recognition, make more friends, network, JV, and also help others. This starts by being a subscriber to many blogs, some famous and some not, to keep updated with what’s going on in the blogging community. This alone will provide me with opportunities to see new trends and following up on it by launching blogs, writing, advertising and more.
Another way is to peruse all the various forums in Internet marketing related niches. This is the niche I happen to thread in and hopefully leave some foot prints for others to follow. But forums aren’t just limited to IM. They are a great way to find opportunities for product creation. What do others want, what information do they crave? By establishing the needs of others we can follow suit and supply demand.
Email – I normally don’t read any of my junk emails as they go straight in the bin. But for some reason I did read one only yesterday by a friendly lady who was trying to sell her opportunity to me. Instead of acting rude or not even acting at all, I sent this lady a friendly email back stating that I am actually very happy with what I’m doing now and that I wasn’t looking for any opportunities in the home business field. The result of a direct exchange of emails between us is that I now have a new Freelancing Client. As you can imagine, I’m very happy that I did take the time to reply to her first email.
Socialize - my husband and have made it a sort of Monday event to go into town for a quick and nice lunch. Doing this today enabled us to network with local people and telling them what I was doing now. Just by sitting down and eating lunch we met 3 people who are now informed about my writing and blogging business. One of them offered to put me in touch with somebody who was looking for a data entry person. Who knows, what will happen but again it is an opportunity that opens up doors for the future.
Naturally there are many more ways one can seize opportunities. But the purpose of this post is to make you aware that you should never close yourself off to recognizing opportunities, no matter where you are or who you are talking to. I have certainly learned this myself and am now alert to the fact that next opportunity could be just around the corner.
I would really love to hear from all of you guys, and whether you seize opportunities. And if you do, how, when and where?
Thank you for visiting
Monika

It really is interesting as to how many contacts you forge online over time – its a certainty that in two years you would have more opportunities than what you are looking at now, just by connecting with the community.
Nice post, I liked the analogy with the emails.

I know, I find that since I found my calling my total attitude has changed for the better and because of my positive thinking opportunities seem to present themselves much easier.
This might sound funny to some, but I do believe in the laws of the universe and the powers of positive thought.

Isn’t it strange how things happen! You’re right in that opportunities appear out of nowhere and when you least expect them – who’d of thought a spam email would lead to a freelancing job!
I might actually read one of Mike F’s daily email dump and send him one back. Do you think he could use my services?
Maybe not, but I bet there are plenty of people out there who could.
Great post Monika!
You’re plugged, dugg and stumbled etc

Tell me about it. Amazing really but then it just goes to show to never expect too little from any situation.
I’ve long since unsubscribed from old Mike’eys email attack. I got sick of it to be honest and stopped reading them. I hate when people clutter up my email inbox with daily barrages of peddling their wares to me. There has got to be a balance somewhere I believe.
