Create Social Bookmarklets with Ease

When I created my social bookmarklet icons a few month ago it was a tedious job as I had to hand code all the stuff myself. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, then those icons are the ones below each post. It will enable you to bookmark those posts that you like best in your favorite directory and then go back in your own leisure time and read the posts later again.

Social Bookmarking

Icons are ok, if real estate space on your blog isn’t a big issue. But if you are after something a little more less obvious, then then the Social Bookmarks Creator might be the thing for you. You can create bookmarklets in drop down style as displayed above. I have seen them displayed previously on other posts. Some bloggers do feature them at the beginning of each post which I think wouldn’t be too wise for SEO purposes as the spiders crawl our sites from the top left to the bottom right. As a general rule you don’t want to display any repetitive wording at the beginning of each post because you might get penalized for it.

This drop down menu would probably also lend itself for the sidebar, but personally I think that it isn’t such a good idea as people might simply forget to bookmark you. Either way it is a great tool to create social bookmarklets for your favorite directories.

Have fun

Monika

Thanks for sharing this, Monika - if I had come across this when I started, I might have spent quite a bit of time fiddling with it. I guess I’m quite settled now on Sphinn, but would like to see more action with the rest. Gotta improve my content tho’ for people to want to help promote it.

Btw, not sure about the Top Commentators thing on my side - I believe it’s due to you using 2 different URLs over the 5 comments? Cheers! :)

    Oh my YC,

It s a bummer when one tries to promote two blogs. I never know where and what I signed with. My apologies. I’ll try to stick to one in the future. ;-)

No worries at all, Monika! :) I’m seriously beginning to grow to like your new layout!
