Yaro Starak is not only a top earner amongst bloggers worldwide, but he is also a down to earth friendly guy. He inspires me to keep doing what I do as no doubt he put in a lot of time, work and effort to get to this sort of income. It doesn’t happen overnight and often newcomers to the Internet tend to forget this fact.
They start blogging with the intention of making a lot of money overnight only to find that it often takes a lot longer than anticipated. Also, we should never compare ourselves to others in regards to why things don’t work as fast as for them. We all stem from different social aspects and they play a huge role in our ability to perform better or worse.
To get to this kind of income figure does take years for most bloggers which sounds daunting when looked at over such a huge time span. What I do to make this target seem less frightening in terms of time is I break it down to smaller numbers. My first target was $500/month which I wanted to achieve within 6 month. I’m actually well on my way to earn double this in October and since this is my 6th full month of blogging here, I guess I have over stepped my expectations which is great. The next figure is $2,000/month and with the rate I’m moving ahead right now, it is very much possible to achieve this in the not too distant future. The target is still July 2008 and if I have to reset that to reflect a higher income figure, then it is even better.
Yaro also talks about compounding and how this helps in the overall picture of growing the income. His RSS and email subscriber list has grown to a massive figure and it makes sense to me when he says that ” When you have over 20 individual sources of income, if they all increase by 10% each month because your core metrics increase, you start to see some big gains overall.”
This drives home the point that since I as a blogger am striving for financial independence, I will need to keep promoting and writing good content. Both of these activities will help me to grow my metrics over time.

What appeals to me greatly about Yaro is really his approachable and friendly style - no airs even when he pulls in the big figures. That is where his success lies in, instead of having groupies.
I am also very much alone in my endeavour (not being taken seriously by friends and relatives) so meeting like-minded people like you guys and success stories really keeps me plugging away.

I am with you on this one. My family think I’ve lost the plot and why don’t I better get a real job they say. They simply have no idea of what we do and often it is only because they worry and care for us.

I agree with YC in that even my partner hasn’t grasped exactly what I’m doing and still sees it as “playing on the computer”.
My family are even worse as none of them are the least bit interested in computers or anything to do with “online”, so I might as well be selling real estate on Mars for all they know.
Yaro is a big inspiration to me too - it was reading his free ebook a few months ago that spurred me into action with my blogs. I only had two of them then that I regularly contributed to and even then only saw them as a means of attracting traffic to my websites.
That view of blogs changed overnight and now I have more blogs and lenses than you can shake a stick at!
And less time than I ever had to keep it all together… D’oh!

Dave Taylor has said he makes over 10K per month from his blog. He uses a question and answer format.
I’ve done a 1 on 1 consultation with him and found his information to be very useful.
However, I have not really focused on my blogs, but your post has reminded me that maybe I shouldn’t forget about blogging.
