The 7 B’s to Effective Blogging

Sometimes all we need is a bit of inspiration:

1.) – Be yourself. Don’t try to fit in with everybody’s expectations. Blogging is all about being and staying unique, even if it means that we miss out in the short term because we refuse to follow common trends.

2.) – Build traffic by making new friends and commit yourself for the long term to grow your online community.

3.) – Blog often; some bloggers disagree on the frequency needed to make an effective impression on others. Do we need to post daily or else is posting every second day enough to keep our readers coming back for more? From my experience it certainly helps the rankings if we post frequently. As long as there is good content on your blog that gets updated a few times per month you should be fine. In the end it comes down to personal preference.

4.) – Barter links from authority sites; what I mean by this is not going to link directories to exchange links as this will put you into strive with the Google Gods, but attracting high authority readers that will love your posts so much that they freely choose to link to you.

5.) – Be helpful with your advice and give freely and often. If others come to you for help, it is kudos to you as they see you as leader within your field.

6.) – Be vary of information overload; it can not only kill your stimulation, but also suck you dry of energy.

7.) – Believe in yourself and that you too can make it to the top of the blogging world amongst others. There is enough room for plenty more.

Enjoy

Monika

The 8th B – Befriend other bloggers by commenting in their blogs!

If they “do follow” there’s an added bonus of a back-link, but even if they don’t, you still have a better chance that someone else will click your link and visit your blog!

Just a couple of things, Monika.

I agree with #1,2, having found it effective. However, I doubt #3 and #4. For example, how could you get to the radar of top bloggers? If you have excellent content, ok, but then, you’d get better even without such links.

Also, the frequency has nothing to do – I’ve posted once in a week for a month, and 4times a week for 2 months. Readers come back, since the posts are not rehashed, but original tips/tricks and hacks. So, it comes down to whether you want them to read, or whether they’d want to read anxiously. I recommend finding which of those you belong to, and then making your frequency accordingly.

You could do with a cleaner design. The current one has stripes all over, and distracts us from the content – which is BAD.

Also, i usually disable images to load pages faster, and then your page headers dont show up coz they’re white. Try something clean, white and focusing on content – just my 2 cents…

    Hi Sumesh,

its funny you mention this as I have seen a few bloggers commenting on the frequency of blogging lately and how it might be enough to blog maybe 3 times per week.

As for getting on the radar, it does help by being a regular reader and commenting often. I have managed to get a couple of big boys attention like this and therefore it did work for me.

But despite this, I agree 100% that content is what really matters, regardless of everything else!

Thank you for telling me about my design. I’m not sure what browser you are using. I use firefox and it looks fine, all though when the page loads there is some funny line that briefly shows in the middle, but then disappears.

You know what really sucks, when you pay for a template make over and then end up having to change things anyway! :-(

Luckily I have the help of a really nice person right now who is helping me to get things better. It shouldn’t take much longer.

I really appreciate feedback like this you know, as it helps me to better my blog for you guys. ;-)

    Thank you
    Monika
