This post has been inspired by Chris Brogan and his post “100 Blog Topics I hope You Write“. I decided to use # 9 “how I find blogging ideas” with this post and have also book marked the list for future use. Generally I’m never short of ideas to blog about.
This might sound like I’m bragging, but I can assure you that I’m not. I simply have so much accumulated knowledge and experience that I always find something to blog about. But not only that, I also blog about my failures, my mile stones of my journey and pretty much everything else that reflects my life as a blogger. My post on how I find blogging ideas will show you what I read, do or think in order to get inspired.
Blogging is my passion as many of you already know. I often get asked questions about how to become a better blogger and why I manage to write so much.
To be honest, I can’t answer the first question. From what I know, people become better at blogging mainly due to frequency, active involvement and experience in the industry.
As I always say, passion is a must in any endeavor.
As for the second question: I write because its what I want to do right now. And by keeping abreast of what’s happening in the IM industry I have enough ideas to keep blogging. On the occasions when I’m stuck for blogging ideas I do a few things.
I visit forums and see what people ask for, then I blog about it trying to help.
I also find inspiration on other blogs in my industry. They often help me to see things from the “other perspective” and provide fodder for more blogging.
I do a Google search on a specific topic I’d like to blog about.
Social networking sites are also a great way to find new blogging ideas.
If I have a rough blogging idea, but no inspiration on how to implement it, I also put myself into the shoes of my reader, especially the ones who don’t have experience in a certain field. I go back to when I started out and try to remember how it was for me and what I struggled with personally. This gives me ideas on a certain approach on that particular topic.
That’s basically it. Like I said most of the time I do have enough blogging ideas simply by being part of the Internet community on a daily basis. And for the times I don’t, the above ideas might hopefully help somebody else too.

Very good stuff, Monika. I like the idea of visiting social networking sites for inspiration. Twitter tends to give lots of people inspiration. Marshall Kirkpatrick wrote recently that Twitter basically gives him tons of topics for his blog. Fascinating that, eh?
Chris,
Fascinating indeed, I can totally see what he means by this as twitter is a real good example of social networking sites that help to find ideas. Mainly due to the fact that people are very open about what they currently do.
Thanks for stopping by
Monika
I like your article. I’m usually not short of ideas but since I’m new to blogging I’m trying to make sure that my info is relevant to my particular blog. I’m learning, though. But, I must admit, I need to step it up a notch. Thanks for the tips.
