3 Tips To Make Working At Home Easier

Posted by Thom in Freelance Writing Bl... | 01.29.2008 - 8:38 am

This is a guest post by Thom Rigsby who blogs over at Life In The Internet and East of Huntsville which is his very own local news blog in his neck of the woods.

When I left my last full-time job to begin my work at home life, I had no idea what I was in for. Oh, I THOUGHT I knew… it would be great! Sleep till 9:00, slug around the house in my PJs and slippers sipping coffee, catch the morning news cycle, etc, etc. With the proliferation of work at home opportunities and record numbers of working adults opting to use their home as their office, why do so many struggle with how to do it? For me and many others that I’ve had the pleasure to talk with over the past six years, the problem comes down to treating it like a real job. So here are a few tips to help you do just that.

6 Causes of Procrastination - Kicking The Habit

Posted by Monika in Freelance Writing Bl... | 01.25.2008 - 12:33 pm

Are you a major procrastinator? If so, you might want to take a reality check as this could seriously hinder you from moving ahead. Procrastination often starts when we are truly uncomfortable with having to do something. We feel intimidated, scared and out of control and therefore we simply procrastinate instead of getting into action.

I used to be a major procrastinator in the past until I realized that it was fear of success that was holding me back. You might laugh at this, but it is often the case that we strive for the stars only to be afraid of them. Procrastination can have multiple causes, but mainly they are:

3 Ways to Get The Job Done

Posted by Monika in Freelance Writing Bl... | 01.24.2008 - 12:20 am

When we commit to working on a job, we are often limited by deadlines and outside distractions. As a freelance writer on the mission to be one of the best freelance writers, I can only blame myself if I don’t get the job done on the due date and it is very tempting and easy to make excuses and kid ourselves.

But before we do this we should be aware that this is also the path of self destruction because if we do it once, we will do it again - over and over. In the end we will only kid ourselves to the extent of possibly loosing a great client.

Do You Have Membership to The Writers Gym?

Posted by Monika in Freelance Writing Bl... | 01.21.2008 - 9:37 pm

Are you a member of the writers gym? If you are, then you know too well how to tone your writers muscles. Writers muscles are like a body builders biceps. We build them actively using our brain and using it often. Writers who struggle with their flow of writing and their grammar need a membership to the writers gym.

I’m a member of the writers gym myself and without it I wouldn’t know how I would be able to stay muscled up to get work.

My Way Of Giving Back And Why I Love Feedback

Posted by Monika in Freelance Writing Bl... | 01.20.2008 - 10:20 pm

In the last couple of month I have been getting a lot of emails from readers who ask me questions. I love nothing more than being able to help these people with their issues and it makes me really happy when they actually write back after I helped them, saying that it worked and how happy they were by implementing my tips.

the art of giving

When I get those kind of emails I am truly excited as it shows that I was able to give back to the blogging community. The same applies when my ebook readers write to me telling me how I helped them understand something better.

My Favourite Freelance Writing Tools

Posted by Monika in Freelance Writing Bl... | 01.18.2008 - 4:49 pm

As a best freelance writer I’m always on the hunt for tools that make my life easier. I noticed that by using convenience tools that help me save time and develop a writing routine, I get a lot more of my freelance writing work done during the day.

Nowhere is this more important than when we get busier.

The funny thing is that once we use certain things we start to take them for granted and before we know it we forgot there was life without them. I actually had to rack my brain to come up with some ideas to list here, because I’m already spoilt. Therefore it is so easy to forget how little I knew before I started my freelance writing journey.
