Freelance Writing Blog Crawl - Round Three

Posted by Monika in Freelance Writing Bl... | 04.19.2008 - 12:10 am

Ok, after a week of pulling my hair I’m back to normal with blogging here on my Freelance Writing blog. I thought it a good idea to interrupt my Freelance Writing Guide for New Freelancers to give some of you a chance to catch up (and me too, LOL).

Therefore I want to feature some bloggers who have recently come on board as brand new bloggers, or else have either bought a blog or redesigned theirs. yes, we’ve got them all for you and I’m sure you’ll love what you see just as I did. I also want to help these guys get more exposure and would really appreciate it if you could go and give them a hand by commenting, stumbling or even subscribing to their feed.

First off is Abhijeet Mukherjee with his new blog called Jeet Blog. Abhijeet and I are old acquaintances from several month ago. He told me then he wanted to start blogging, but time wouldn’t allow it and that he had to wait for another few month until he could follow his dream.

Well, here he is. Abhijeet is very much into technology, software and blogging and has a wealth of knowledge he readily shares from his new home on the web. His recent post on Incredible Firefox Keyboard Shortcuts needs to be inspected by Firefox users.

I reckon he has done a great job with his blog.

Second is Brett, a very good friend I have recently had the pleasure of getting to know better via email, Skype and Twitter, plus the various blogs on which we seem to run into each other on occasions.

Brett and his family are getting ready to relocate from freezing Canada to become my neighbors in New Zealand and he is truly the king of virtual flat whites (since you’ll ask what this is I tell you know) A flat white is a coffee invented in Australia I believe and quite likely the best coffee you could ever drink. (Well, I am biased).

Brett also had a recent make over on his blog and I have to say it looks ueber cool. He has a knack for being in several places at the same time and I wonder what Brett’s secret is for this. I guess one reason we are friends is that Brett has a great life philosophy which helps us to muse over things together occasionally.

I love everything Brett writes about and his post on The Plan and Why It’s Never Too Late is very inspiring.

6 weeks

Last but not least I wanted to give a helping hand to another very inspiring person by the name of Brent. Brent was another victim of the mad blog flipping that goes on in the blogosphere paying far too much for a blog he thought worth the money he spent on.

Brent had to find out the hard way that the traffic he was believed to have on the blog he bought was way over estimated. It sucks being at the wrong end of the stick and I guess Brent had to learn the hard, unpleasant way. He is the new owner of Blogrepreneur and has already started off with some great content since the take over.

Ok, this wraps up my blog crawl for this week and i look forward to getting your feedback on those blogs.

@ Abhijeet: you are welcome. I always keep my promises as you see. :-) Sorry about the broken link, I fixed it by now. As you see, you already got a new subscriber too.

Brett was as kind as to follow my suggestions.

Monika,

Thank you very much for the kind words and encouragement today, and thank you for including me in your Blog Crawl. You are a great friend and I am so happy to have met you – it has been a pleasure getting to know you over the past few months, and I look forward to the day when we can share a *real* flat white. BTW, John is the king of the real flat white, I know this without even having sampled his wares yet! I agree with you, it is the best coffee you could ever drink.

(It is also probably my secret for being in multiple places at one time, the amazing powers of caffeine…)

Your writing always gives me inspiration and helps me to stay focused on my goals – whenever you write a new post, I jump right over here to read it – so keep on doing what you do, you are the best!

Thanks also for sharing Abhijeet’s and Brent’s blogs today, they are both great and they now each have a new subscriber!

Talk with you soon, my friend - Brett

@ Brett: a coffee addict, there you go, the secret is finally out of the bag. LOL. You know, I used to drink about 7 coffees a day many years ago when I was still a galley slave. It was the only way for me to keep up with the work pressures since I would never do drugs or become an alcoholic like so many chefs are.

But I got really hyper and feared a heart attack so I eventually willed myself to give up this coffee addiction. I went without coffee for some two years before becoming a real connoisseur with 1 cup a day. :-)

These days, I really am fussy about my coffee and if it isn’t 100% correct my day is ruined. LOL. :-)

I’m glad you liked Abhijeet’s and Brent’s blog too. I reckon they are doing a great job and will have tones of subscribers before we know it anyway. Thanks for following through on my suggestions. You are simply rock’n!

@ Monika: yes, I couldn’t hold it inside of me anymore :) to be honest I’ve cut back a lot too since my kids are not babies and I don’t have to be up at 3 am all the time.

I am like you, I prefer a *good* cup of coffee - or three LOL

I’m pretty sure I’ll only drink one a day once I’m my own boss. Right now I use it to keep myself interested in stuff that isn’t of interest ;)

Well, I can’t help but check out the pages you suggest - they are all great, 100 percent success rate so far.

You too are rock’n, we must form a rock band someday! I like the drums…

@ Brett: I understand your coffee addiction. It isn’t easy staying interested for things that really suck.

Hey, forming a band, you don’t know the risks you’ll take. I can’t read notes. John says I can’t sing and I’m only ever good at hitting things (not people) when I have one of my disorder days. LOL

Always favored the drum too, I reckon I could give Phil Collins a run for his money. Maybe we should call ourselves the disorders and hit the $hit out of things (you know, drums) :-) Muwahahaha…

@ Monika: that’s a lot of it, probably most of it… as soon as I’m doing something fun, I don’t need the coffee!

Well, if you can’t sing, I can’t sing either, so we’re perfectly matched! You play the drums, I’ll play bass guitar and together we can form a hardcore band called the disorders… that way you can hit the $hit out of things, and we can sing out of tune ;)

@ Brett: LOL, you crack me up you know. The thing is, I got a very vivid imagination so I can actually imagine this happening too. Oh boy, who knows, me might even be popular. Grunge music seems to be the in thing these days. :-)

Hi Monika,

Thanks for the new sites to check into. Of course I thought I knew about the wonderful Brett but I didn’t know he is moving so I even learned something about him!
I always am learning from you. :)

Wendi,

Actually, I should say the wonderful Wendi, because you are also that :)

Yes, we are very serious about moving to New Zealand, with a lot of things going on right now to make it happen. The little picture of me attached to this comment, that’s me - my wife took it just after we ate lunch at Mudbrick Winery on Waiheke Island in New Zealand.

That’s one of my happy places…

Of course, the beauty of the internet is that the digital divide is very narrow - so even if we were to move, we can still be with all of the great people we meet out here - such as you Wendi, and you, Monika!

@ Wendy: you are welcome. I’m sure you would enjoy them as much as I do. I bet you do know though that Brett does wear some “funny shoes”. LOL

@ Brett: Funny, I can’t see the picture you refer to. I think my commenting Plugins are stuffed up. Mmhh…

Hi Monika,

Perhaps it isn’t but I seem to be able to see it from my end when I’m typing this comment. I’ll email it to you and if you’ve already seen it, I’ll chalk it up to needing a flat white :)

I love my funny shoes more and more each day. I ran 3.1 km last night in 23 minutes, felt great and probably could have kept going…

I need to get out on my own and freelance so I can wear them all the time. They don’t fit in very well here at work ;)

@ Brett: LOL, I can just imagine your funny shoes coupled with a corporate suit. Now that would look very sexy indeed. Hehehe…

I so admire you for running like that. I’m bad enough and don’t run with proper shoes (hey, not offense) but barefoot and all, wow.

Just the thought makes my soles hurt.

Monika,

You know, you gave me an idea for a picture for a post… I think I’ll put on one of my suits, and my funny shoes :) I’ll call it “I’m too sexy for my suit”

Thank you - well, I guess I’m just an ordinary (weird) guy hee hee - it sounds painful, but really it is not.

I’ve had a lot of folks ask me if there is bruising or anything, and there is not. And the other thing, your feet don’t get all tough. It is actually good for them… no need for a loofah!

Hi Monika - thanks for the great links and info. I’m pleased to know that there’s going to be excellent coffee in Australia.

I’ve also been away from my blog for a week on a novel writing course.

I already know Brett, but I’m looking forward to checking out these new bloggers.

@ Cath: Hey, welcome back. When do you arrive? Have you got any definite dates yet and where will it be. Made any decisions? Sorry if you happen to have blogged about this and I missed it.

Be great to hook up for real coffee once you are in the country. :-)
