    Hi… what’s your sign? :-)

    (I’m a Virgo – over-critical? Naw…)

  2. zania | Jun 20, 2008 | Reply

I’m Leo, with Aries in ascendant, but held back by the moon in Virgo.
(which kinda makes me an over-critical, bossy, entrepreneur…)
I think you are a mixture of Pisces and Gemini :) but I’m probably wrong…

I’m an Aquarius sun, Taurus moon, with Pisces rising and Aries in the north node. My life purpose is all about what I have to give to the world, which I’m doing through online business. And I can’t tell you how happy I am that this freakin’ Mercury retrograde is now over with. What a pain it has been.

  4. Rebecca Leigh | Jun 20, 2008 | Reply

I’m a Libra sun, with Aquarius ascendent and Aquarius moon. At the moment I think the Aquarius is having a strong influence!

  5. Donna | Jun 20, 2008 | Reply

Great post – astrology and work/life is a big interest of mine. I’m a Pisces sun with Gemini ascendant and Aquarius moon. Apparently the ‘signs’ are pretty good for me as a writer – but I’m still trying to gauge the outlook for my future as a business person :)

  6. ebele (ze mango queen) | Jun 20, 2008 | Reply

    I’m a Gatorade-hating, Ginger-loving, Gorgeous Gazelle of a Gemini.

Yeah, I’d say I’m whimsical (bordering on weird), inquisitive (over silly stuff, though), easily bored (restless) so I’m up in many things at once (which contributes to the scatter factor).

Me?, erm, two-faced? :-( – I’d say more ‘dual’. If one twin wants tiramisu, and the other wants fromage frais, I buy both ;-)

I’ve always been a nomad in my head – lived in London for AGES but always with the mind to travel (which I’m SO not doing and time’s ticking).

I think the best business for me (being an Air sign) is doing stuff that comes naturally – where I have room to breathe – creative stuff, funky stuff, stuff that doesn’t feel like work (but is).

And, ahem, as you can tell, I’m, ahem, rather talkative. :-)

    hugs to you, m’lady!

@ Grizzly: A virgo, wow, I honestly wouldn’t have thought. I put you down for a Sagittarius.

Me, I’m a true cancer. Plus I have some Sagittarius mixed in for sure with my love of travel. I swear I’m a split person. One half is independent, loving to travel, adventure and fun and the other is a true crab, nurturing, home body, etc. :-)

  8. Monika | Jun 20, 2008 | Reply

@ Zania: I’m actually neither of those. ;-)

I’m a Cancer sun, an Aquarius moon, with Aries rising and Taurus in North Node. I have to say that when I read my birth chart, it was the closest anything ever described me.

  9. Monika | Jun 20, 2008 | Reply

@ Michael: well, no wonder I was so introverted the last few weeks then. LOL, now I know why. One good has come from it though, I got back into my Yoga.

  10. Monika | Jun 20, 2008 | Reply

@ Rebecca: We have the same moon as it seems. Plus Sagittarius is in the full moon right now, therefore being very powerful.

May the force be with you.

  11. Monika | Jun 20, 2008 | Reply

@ Donna: Thank you. We also share the same moon. Watch out for the power of us all of you. :-) Plus I just realized you are a fellow sunshine state resident. Woohooo, I just subscribed to your blog too. Looks very down my alley.

    I’ll be back

@ Ebele: What a great and animated way to describe your sign. Only you, the true queen of mango can pull this off for sure.

Between the two of us we might be able to add two more desserts to the mix. Since I’m also a bit of a double act when it comes to personality “disorders”.

Hehehe…. You better get your bags packed my friend and start discovering those exotic locations you dream about. Remember this…tick…tick…tick.

  13. ebele (ze mango queen) | Jun 20, 2008 | Reply

mmmm…I feel like having some mangoes today, some gooseberry fool and a couple of tubs of tiramisu! I am so good to myself ;-)

Stop the tick, tick, ticking. I know, know, know.

Have a lovely weekend, hun :-) Mother Nature loves ya, ya hear?

I’m biased, being a Libra, but I’d say that if we’re artistic then, by extension, we make good writers too. That said, it’s otherwise spot-on! :-)

  15. Donna | Jun 22, 2008 | Reply

Hey that’s awesome – I’ve been following your blog for awhile now so I’ll be chuffed if you get something out of mine!

  16. Red | Jun 23, 2008 | Reply

When it comes to business, we need all the tools and help we can get. And if zodiacs are good guides, let’s go for them as well.

  17. Monika | Jun 24, 2008 | Reply

@ China Blue: I think you are correct. Judging by your blog, you are a good writer. Just a shame you might consider leaving. Enjoy your travels though, who knows where it might lead you. :-)

  18. Monika | Jun 24, 2008 | Reply

@ Red: Using Zodiac guides was inspired with the fun bit in mind. I have to say though they certainly hit the nail on the head with many people if not with all. In the least they are a great road map to help us with guidance should we ever need it.

You forgot the “Mustela” (The Weasel)

(That one’s reserved for senior managers!)

    Heh heh heh heh.

@ Friar: Hihihi… Mustela, what a funny name this is. Mustela he said and hence the 13th Zodiac was born. :-)

I haven’t read anything about star signs for awhile and this made me remember how much of a Libran I am. I have always worked gravitated to creative or people based jobs – advertising and teaching – and I am such a stickler for social justice and fair play. On the downside I also love to do nothing but sit around in my imagination, but maybe that’s a writer thing.

I worked in business for many years which doesn’t really go with the Libran personality, but I was happiest when I got around that by working with great people or working in an organisation I could feel was HELPING people.

Even now as a freelance marketer and copywriter, I only work for small to medium sized companies who I feel I can contribute to, without being sucked into the capitalist machine. I actually turned down a $5,000 job last year because it was for a big finance company who I just knew I would be miserable working for. Mind you, I do have the luxury of doing this because I am the part time worker in my house and full time mummy.

I also agree with the laziness part, but think it spins off from a Libran’s creativity and social interaction and peace keeping efforts. People have the ability to really drain you, lack of balance is also very draining, so us Librans get to this point where it becomes crucial to be alone and do nothing and recharge.

I think BALANCE is going to be the buzz word for my whole life as I have a tendency to overload myself and then stop, run away and hide. My life never seems to be in the middle.

My son is on the cusp of Aries and Taurus so I will be very interested to see the man he becomes. He already has the ego of Aries and the bullheaded approach of a Taurus. Yay (sigh).

    Kelly

  22. Monika | Jul 11, 2008 | Reply

@ Kelly: It looks like you will have your hands full with your son, all in good spirit of course. It’s amazing how well you seem to know yourself. You know, this is so important for making the right choices and nurturing ourselves.

Took me ages to achieve this but it certainly does help once you arrive at that point. Balance is a huge part for most of us, isn’t it.

Especially in the hectic world we all live in. These days it is a lot harder to admit that we do in fact need a break.

Sounds like you have it all worked out though which is really great. How many people wander aimlessly through life chasing the wrong things. Great comment, thank you for showing me and my readers a little bit of the you within. :-)

  23. Kelly@SHE-POWER | Jul 11, 2008 | Reply

Hmm, something definitely got lost in my last comment because I definitely do not have life “all worked out”.

I may know myself and what I want, but like many people (particularly women) I struggle to retain the courage of my convictions in the face of other’s disapproval.

I have changed jobs, careers, homes, countries a number of times. I don’t care about a lot of stuff my family and even society at large find important. And what that means is my wants and my decisions often put me in the “she’s crazy” basket.

By 37 I should be fine with this and brave enough to claim my truth regardless of my family and friends’ opinions, but in reality it’s still an up-hill battle.

Turning down the $5,000 job, for example, was a very hard decision I literally made myself sick over. I knew I could afford to say “No”, but I also knew most people would say “yes” because it just fell in my lap. Even my husband wanted me to do it, so I went to and fro trying to justify why the money wasn’t worth the pain of juggling my son, a strict deadline and a difficult client.

I think the surest path to freedom and happiness is: Know yourself. Be yourself. Make your own decisions no matter what others think. And take responsibilty for yourself and your actions.

I’ve got some of this worked out, and I still have ways to go on the rest.

    Cheers
    Kelly

  24. Monika | Jul 12, 2008 | Reply

@ Kelly: When I said this, I actually related it to knowing what you need. I’m aware this came across wrong and I apologize for it. Hell, I’m aware there is a huge difference between knowing ourselves and having it figured out in the sense of getting it all right.

It’s just that it took me many years to understand who I really was and I figured from your comment you were also quite secure in the knowledge of who you the person was and what she needed. Does this make more sense?

Ack, looks like I didn’t communicate my thoughts properly.
