Even though we work online, we still leave a lasting impression, albeit of the digital kind. Surprisingly enough, many see their online appearance as a space filler, something to do other than watching TV for example. Reality shows us our capability in leaving massive foot prints everywhere we go.
You and your blog can leave a massive impression on another person. I think many of you underestimate the effect you actually have on others. Even if you are brand new.
People come online to either waste time, find information, shop or build a business. My intentions with this blog have always been to help aspiring freelance writers and bloggers to find their ways and nothing gives me more satisfaction than knowing I have inspired yet another person to get out of their comfort zone.
In writing my online story I hope to inspire others to follow in my footstep and turn their lives around for the better. Regardless of who you are or what you know, you too have a strong foot print to offer, if you wish.
Ask yourself. What is your online foot print? Where have you left lasting impressions? Is it on your blog, on a website, in a forum or even a chat room?
If you think about the value you can give does this make you feel all fuzzy inside? I guess if you are anything like me it will. We can all do our bits to make this world a better place and we can start with our blogs. As bloggers we can build credibility and trust by doing the right thing.
Think of ways to help others without spending all your energies, all the while providing value to the online community.
This could mean you could offer:
- Services in return for products
- Advice in return for gratification
- Knowledge about your topic of expertise in exchange for somebody else’s knowledge on another topic
There is so much we can do as bloggers to reach a wide readership and leave a positive impact as some kind of legacy.
Did you realize your blog could actually be a legacy to your children, grand children or family descendants. Just imagine how we would feel if our grand parents or parents would have blogged their lives. We could read about their experiences, see pictures and generally feel with them on their journey. What an amazing inspiration this would be.
Wouldn’t that be fantastic?
Leaving a positive online foot print should be our motivation to keep blogging. It is our present to mankind - here to stay for eternity (or so we hope).

This post made me think of Jimmy Stewart in the movie,
It’s a Wonderful Life. Watch the movie if you don’t know what I mean.
Blogging is a wonderful opportunity to connect, encourage and boost our fellow men and women.
We seldom get to realize the impact we have. I met a young entrepreneur who heard me speak to his 8th grade class and he thanked me 10 years later for inspiring him to the self-employed life.
@ Tom Volkar: Wow, this has got to be the ultimate gratification. Being remembered years after you have positively impacted another person is so powerful.
Looks like I have to go down to the video store. I might have seen the movie when I was younger but really can’t remember.
Thanks for the hint and stopping by.
Thanks for the link, Monika. Nicely done
@ James: No problem, you are always welcome. I figured it would be some kind of replacement for failing to read one of my favourite blogs on a regular basis.
Not much, but you guys and everybody else I linked to are all part of my RSS feed.
Nice post, Monika. Your online footprint, and your circle of influence, is much larger than you know.
Thank you for doing what you do, my friend.

@ Brett: Thank you. You are always so kind. I really have yo return the compliment since I hardly know another blogger who has managed to make such a positive impact on the community.
You are the perfect example for this post, so thank you.
@Monika,
You are welcome, and thank you too. I’ll say this, I could not do it without people like you, or the Men, or a whole list of folks.
(you know who you are, folks)
Monika, thanks for your compliment about my blog in the comment in other post. You’ll see me here frequently as I am now a subscriber since a few weeks ago.
Actually I have commented on several of your guest posts in other blogs…
Btw, I like how you think.
Along the same line, I always believe passion is very important. Blogging should be fun and rewarding.
@ Hendry Lee: I noticed your comment on Court’s blog I think. Yeah, I have always been a strong advocate for having passion what we do, otherwise we bother. At least that is what I think. Seems we indeed think alike.
I tried to comment on your last post but there is nowhere to do this. Have you got your comments off?
Thanks for your interest to comment on my blog.
Yes Monika, I have disabled comments feature and only enable trackbacks and pingbacks for several reasons.
I have explained about it in quite a detail when I started my blog.
A few bloggers try to persuade me into opening comments back, I challenge them to change my mind but for now that is my decision.
This is an anticipation to what I have already thought in my mind about where I want to bring the blog in the future.
@ Hendry Lee: I understand. After all, it is your blog and you do as you see fit with it. I certainly respect your decision even if I might not agree with it.
And it won’t stop me from checking in periodically either. Keep up the good work anyway.
@Monika
The fact that what we blog about is recorded for the Ages also has it’s drawbacks.
For example, all our political opinions, hobbies, interests, girlfriends/and or boyfriends, religious affiliations, how we stand on certain social issues…it’s all there, for everyone to see.
It might come back to haunt us…years later, if someone wants to do a background check (i.e. for job interviews or security clearance). Or what if a potential marriage partner wants to check out your past.
What if we post something stupid, indiscreet, or offensive, and we regret it. We cant’ take it back.
It’s great that we can write about what we want..but once it’s out there, it’s out there and there’s no turning back.
With all this power to write…comes great responsiblity.
@ Friar: We sure do have responsibility, I totally agree.
But I also think that even if we stuff up and what we write stays online for ever, we can apologies.
Ultimately people (whether family, friends or strangers) will like us because of our personality. This includes the negative aspects as well as the positive ones.
However, if we really do something stupid it will indeed hunt us in the future.
Thank you for writing this and reminding us of our responsibilities too.
Good post Monica..
I think I get that “warm and fuzzy” feeling simply from “doing the right thing”, even if it’s going to “cost” in the short term..
Keep’em comin..

@ John: Thank you. Great to see another new face here. I see you are an MLM networker. I could reminisce with you about my days in MLM. LOL.
Monika,
You rock and your blog is a great and fitting reflection on you and the kind of work that you do. Thanks for the link.
@ Kathy: Well thank you mam. I was going to return this compliment to you as well. It’s amazing what you have achieved in your life already. I’m your fan as much as you are mine.
Monika,
This is a great reminder of the importance of what we do online as well as a great link post. Thanks for including me.
@ Lillie: It was a pleasure to include you. I only recently discovered your blog but I’m happy I did. You have a lot of value to offer to your readers.
It’s always great to know there are bloggers who are viewing the bigger picture than just a blog.
@ Ed: Yes, I guess you are right. Seeing the bigger picture makes problems we see appear a lot smaller and become near insignificant in the process.
It also helps to keep one more happy and balanced in life. Hey, you are becoming a regular. I have to start handing out coffee’s or beer soon.
This is great!
Do I have a strong foot print to offer through my blog? I always felt I was blogging in a vacuum, nobody actually cares about my writings.
@betshopboy,
Hey - I just had a look at your blog - it is interesting, you know. You have something unique to offer - don’t quit writing, some people are reading it!
@ Chewee: I don’t think you are blogging in a vacuum. I always read your posts in my reader, but have failed to stop by on the actual blog lately. As a matter of fact I do struggle to visit all my favorite blogs as much as I would like and I fear most of us might have the same problem.
You have a great talent Chewee. Like Brett said and I said before, don’t give up.
