Why Linking Out To Others Is Great

I’m not sure how you feel about linking to other blogs, but I have a feeling that my regular readers agree with me when I say it is great to link. For starters, you will pass on link love for the other blogger and send some traffic their way. You will also often help a person to be noticed by other bloggers, especially if they are relatively new. Last of all, linking out is fun.

It’s time for another link post and I wanted to start off by saying thank you to Barbara Swafford. Barbara is a gentle soul who has managed to create a wonderful blog, designed to help bloggers all around the world. Her community is strong and her advice sound.

Barbara’s post Are You A Site For Sore Eyes not only reminds me of that great song by MPeople back in the 90s, but also about my own blog and that I still haven’t done my remodelling, even though I have the design and banner ready. One of these days I am finally going to do it.

The next link goes to a VERY strong woman who not only has enough guts and spirit for all of us, but Rita is simply a shining beacon in the blogosphere. If you really want to understand why Rita is so powerful, you ought to read her post I Was A Mail order Bride: Part 1 – I Have RSD.

She is one heck of a power horse and the next time you complain about a headache think how Rita had to cope (and still is coping) with years of excessive pain.

Steph is still tweaking her Edit Quest launch and I’m sure it will be worth the wait in the end. Meanwhile she writes on her post Friday Focus why she has stopped reading and commenting on other blogs.

Her account of her current life made me smile, because I can identify with the total absorption by her into what she is currently doing.

Davina asks Are You Afraid Of the Dark? Good question and I’d have to say sometimes I am. Usually right after I watch a thriller that involves psycho killers. But Davina’s post isn’t about the obvious. There is much more behind her words and she crafted this post so well, I have to say it is a winner.

George has only started blogging a little while ago, but he has already written some really good posts for freelance writers and wanna be’s. His latest post How To Break The Idea Barrier lists some unusual ways to get inspired the next time you struggle to write a post.

You will be in very capable hands with all these fine bloggers and I leave you to it.

Thanks

Monika

Hi Monika – Thanks for these links. I’m so behind with my reading thanks to this horrid cold bug.

I hope you get time to change your theme – am looking forward too seeing it.

Monika, I’ve recently ventured out into putting some links on my blog. It is fun to do! And it really is a great way to send some of your readers off to a place that you like – introducing them to new content, and really, helping out other bloggers by sending traffic their way. It’s a win-win!

    Monika,

It is great to link for sure (and I’m due for a link post soon… once I finish a couple of other things!) – I find it is always fun to try and work it into the post somehow, and if it leads folks to check out other folks, that’s great!

Great links. I know them all, except for George, but I’ll take care of that immediately.

    Hi Monika,

Thanks for the include. One of the best parts of my day is spending the time to look through what others are posting. I’ve gotten some great ideas, made a few friends and expanded my horizons.

Links are they key. I love linking to other sites when they are valuable. Sharing a good site is like raising your hand and shouting, “Hey everyone! Look at this! You’re gonna love it!”

A very cool thing to do.

    Thanks again.

    George

    Hi Monika,

We must be on the same wave length as we’re both writing about linking today. Thank you for including a link to my blog and for your kind words. I truly appreciate it.

    Hey Monika!

    Thanks for the link! :)

Wow, the focus is still on. It’s EditQuest all the way. Dinner becomes a matter of unwrapping something and sticking it in the oven. My eyes burn and my shoulders ache. The dog is sulking.

I have wayyy more focus when I’m not actually working for pay than when I am!

PS. I just commented some more on other posts. Time to get caught up a little! I just had to say, I totally love the “reply to this comment” feature!

Hi Monika. Thanks for the link and for the kind comments! There’s a lot of “S-linky” going on in the blogosphere lately. I like how were are all tied together in so many ways and yet we live in different parts of the world. Thanks for sharing these blogs.

  10. Davina | Sep 25, 2008 | Reply

Oh crap! A typo. I meant, “I like how we are all tied together in so many ways…” :-)

@ Cath: Sorry to hear you are sick. It sucks fighting of those nasties and sometimes it takes so much longer than we anticipate.

    Get better soon.

As for my theme, yes, I’m so sick of this one, you wouldn’t believe it. LOL.

  12. Monika | Sep 25, 2008 | Reply

@ Lance: It is indeed. I actually love linking to people to give them some exposure. I think it is like giving a virtual smile to others and since I like smiling it helps me to indulge. ;-)

@ Brett: I agree, it is fun indeed. I know you link a lot too. I think it helps to build blog communities too.

@ WD: Thanks Sean, I’m sure you’ll love George.

@ George: No worries, you are welcome indeed. I was going to link to your blog last week but then forgot again. I usually like to give new bloggers link love to get some more exposure.

    Hope it helps.

@ Steph: I tell you, this EditQuest business of yours really has us all on the edge of our seats. I am getting as excited as you just hearing about it. LOL.

  17. Monika | Sep 25, 2008 | Reply

@ Barbara: LOL. It was a pleasure. I see how much good you do for many bloggers and it is the least I could do. Keep up the great work Barbara, people like you are what this world keeps turning for. :-)

@ Davina: Hahahaha…..too funny. I actually have the edit comment Plugin but haven’t activated it yet. I was going to wait until I have the new theme ready.

At least twice a week I try to link out to someone. I don’t do the lovely round-ups you and others do, but when a post or posts tie in to what I want to say, I create a link to expand the conversation and provide other viewpoints (and I’m all about multiple viewpoints).

  20. Trent Brownrigg | Home Business | Sep 28, 2008 | Reply

It’s definitely nice to pass some link love around every once in a while. I think that readers enjoy it because they get to discover new blogs, and the blog owners obviously like it because they are getting a free link. Plus, you tend to get links back once people realize how generous you are. It’s a winning situation for all!

  21. Monika | Sep 30, 2008 | Reply

@ Trent: Very true, magic works both ways doesn’t it? Before we can receive we shall give. Plus, doing it without expecting anything in return is always the best option of all.

Great post. I’m going to post my first link love blog post early next week. I never thought about it before I found

    Hi Monika,

Great post. I hope your health issues turn out to not be so serious and you can get on with things. I have enjoyed your writing on this website and the many other sites that you are an author on. Keep up the great work.

@ MsRefusenik: Babycakes??? I appreciate your feedback and thank you for your link. You made me crack up yourself with your blog’s description. 50 something hippie. Hahahaha…

I look forward to seeing you around. Maybe you like my newest rant. :) I’m not all sweet talk you know.
