3 Major Attributes Of Natural Leaders

Natural leaders have inspired us since the beginning of time. Even though we weren’t alive at the time we still talk about past leaders such as Martin Luther King, we talk about them in awe as if we were present at the time when they inspired thousands to become better humans.

So what is it that lets natural leaders stand apart from the rest of mankind? Do they possess special powers along the lines of superman, or are they just people like us with a strong will?

In my eyes leaders possess no super powers, however, they almost always have the following three attributes to help them stand out from the pack.

1.) Integrity

Natural leaders have a very strong integrity, not just toward other people but also toward themselves. When they say they will do something, they are going to do it, regardless of the price they pay.

Leaders act consistently and value actions, values, methods, measures and principles very high in their personal beliefs.

Their aim is to help others aspire to greatness and they thrive on seeing other people succeed. It is nourishment for their souls.

2.) Strong Character

While integrity is partial of a strong character, natural leaders have a very recognizable character devoid of any ego. Yes they do have a powerful core within them, but they will never boast about their achievements in a way that will make you feel less worthy.

As a matter of fact, natural leaders help to inspire you to do better by touching you on a very personal level.

Often these levels are entirely emotional. Emotion is the main factor in all our actions in everyday life. We act on emotion, we love on emotion and we fail on emotions.

All our actions are based on emotions.

3.) Personal Drive

Personal drive is what keeps natural leaders going until…

Their goals are based on their own reasons to become a better person and they will not stop until they have achieved what they set out to do.

Oh yes, natural leaders will fail… many times along the way. But what sets them apart from most people is their continuous drive and hunger to keep going, regardless of how many walls they need to climb and how many holes they fall into. The major attributes of natural leaders is what helps them stand apart!

Are you a natural leader?

    Monika,

What is interesting about the attributes you have listed is that I believe that they are in each of us – we must only find that which evokes strong emotions in us, and at that point we can lead a charge in that area.

I mean, for my own self, whatever it is that I can talk about non-stop for hours or days – that is where I would be a leader.

I have met many managers in my life but few true leaders. I can think of one right now where I work.

I would follow him to the ends of the earth (well, at least in my current job) because there’s something about him. He leads from the front.

@ Brett: Leading from the front is important. My husband does this at his job and people just love him because they can see he doesn’t just talk the talk, he also walks it by leading from the front. This builds respect from his co-workers.

If you can talk for hours about a subject it means you are passionate and passion is ONE major aspect of success. Lack it and you end up giving up.

I am NOT a natural leader. Whether it’s a soccer team, or a project at work, I don’t like being in charge. It stresses me out.

But that’s okay. Because not everyone can lead, otherwise nothing would ever get done.

But leaders need advisors and consultants. That’s where I think I’d fit in.

    I DO think I’d make a good 2nd-in-command, or a sergeant-at-arms.

For me the greatest attributes of world leaders are their personal drive.

And who said that these things are only for those wanna be world leaders? If you are thinking that way, then I would kindly disturb your train of thought. These 3 things are applicable in daily life, in business, in projects, in making money and even in online marketing. Especially personal drive since this will really inspire you to get that PR that you absolutely wish for!

All in all, these 3 attributes can be paired with a dozen more, but acquire these 3, and you are off and ready to kick the dirt road.

It’s all true what you’re saying about natural leaders. But natural leaders need practice too. Delivering speeches and oral communication is something that is practiced and developed over time

Without intelligence all these qualities lead to disaster. You want your leaders not only strong but independent too, or they’ll be only puppets… empty “symbols”!
