Without intelligence all these qualities lead to disaster. You want your leaders not only strong but independent too, or they'll be only puppets... empty "symbols"!

It's all true what you're saying about natural leaders. But natural leaders need practice too. Delivering speeches and oral communication is something that is practiced and developed over time

For me the greatest attributes of world leaders are their personal drive.

And who said that these things are only for those wanna be world leaders? If you are thinking that way, then I would kindly disturb your train of thought. These 3 things are applicable in daily life, in business, in projects, in making money and even in online marketing. Especially personal drive since this will really inspire you to get that PR that you absolutely wish for!

All in all, these 3 attributes can be paired with a dozen more, but acquire these 3, and you are off and ready to kick the dirt road.

I am NOT a natural leader. Whether it's a soccer team, or a project at work, I don't like being in charge. It stresses me out.

But that's okay. Because not everyone can lead, otherwise nothing would ever get done.

But leaders need advisors and consultants. That's where I think I'd fit in.

I DO think I'd make a good 2nd-in-command, or a sergeant-at-arms.

@ Brett: Leading from the front is important. My husband does this at his job and people just love him because they can see he doesn't just talk the talk, he also walks it by leading from the front. This builds respect from his co-workers.

If you can talk for hours about a subject it means you are passionate and passion is ONE major aspect of success. Lack it and you end up giving up.

Monika,

What is interesting about the attributes you have listed is that I believe that they are in each of us - we must only find that which evokes strong emotions in us, and at that point we can lead a charge in that area.

I mean, for my own self, whatever it is that I can talk about non-stop for hours or days - that is where I would be a leader.

I have met many managers in my life but few true leaders. I can think of one right now where I work.

I would follow him to the ends of the earth (well, at least in my current job) because there's something about him. He leads from the front.
