@ Mark: Dude you are emerging as a full-blown hippie now. :) But of course you are right. It's only about health, love and peace, not to forget happiness. We can be happy with nothing and unhappy with everything. I'm glad you love the blogging, it's a bit like having your own stage without the director and people screaming at you "cut," once too often.

Monika, you are too kind as always. This is much more enjoyable than novel-writing, believe me.

Actually, despite the tenor of my blog (artistic licence) I never really carried any lasting resentment towards the journo, apart from when it surfaced every so often when life was going a bit sour work-wise and I thought what might have been. Hence my letter to him, as I mentioned to George. This is just the crap life throws up at times. Health, love and peace are where it's really at. Shit, I just blew my cover, huh?

George, thanks. I did send the guy a letter some time ago when I'd spent over 4 years taxi driving on the night shift to earn a living - very dodgy. I even spoke to his editor and relayed the story but the guy wouldn't comment. The journo himself may have wanted to respond but I didn't include my address because his excuses were of no interest to me. I just wanted to let him know how things had panned out since his article. And I may have expressed the wish that I pick him up late one night in my taxi ...
Cheers for now. Travis Bickle.

Chris, thanks. Yep, I still have a few ideas milling around my head - always have - but it's time and incentive I need. There really are better things to be doing with your time, unless time is all you have. To be honest, I hope I never get to the point in my life where I have nothing else to do but write another novel. The bottom line, though, is that nothing and no one will put you off if you have it in your heart to attempt one, and I wouldn't suggest anyone scraps their hopes on that score. But it is a real labor of love. Mark

@ Mark: I have to say I was intrigued by your first blog post and wanted to hear more about your unfortunate run-in with that asshole journalist.

To say he acted totally unethical would be the understatement of the century. I still don't understand how people can live with themselves knowing they opened their mouths when they should have kept them shut. But even worse, this guy broke your trust and that to me is a sin.

It's sad to see your career ended before it even took off and I totally understand how bitter and betrayed you must have felt when it happened to you.

I know it's not much much compared to writing your books but I'm glad you found me because now we get to enjoy your wisdom, your knowledge and best of all your incredible talent and humor. :)

Thank you Mark for sharing your story with me and my readers. I must have been hard but in some sense it is also a cleansing isn't it?

Mark,

Yikes. I can't even imagine the lead ball that must have arrived in your gut when you read that in the review. You say you've not been able to contact the sh**head journalist re what the hell he was thinking?

So, if no more novels for you, what kinds of writing will occupy your future? Is there a sense of relief for not having to worry about another novel?

I'll have to add Murder Cycle to my Amazon list.

Cheers

Ouch, that's rough. But it's a lesson learned eh? A harsh lesson, but a lesson nonetheless. Do you think you'll ever write another novel?
