Hey Justin, I have just seen your threat to kill that cute dog if people don't subscribe to your blog. You've made a big mistake with that. I don't mean threatening to kill it; I mean I don't think it's a dog. I think it's a bat.
People, you should check this man's site.

"If you want to write, and make a career out of it, and most importantly feel at peace with being on that path, you need to forget the idea that your efforts deserve to be rewarded. Write because you love to do so, and because you have the freedom and the time and the opportunity to indulge your passion. The rest will follow.

If anything is going to work for you, it’s that."

Mark -- I love it!

Hi Mary, thanks for your kind comments. You are so right about putting the kids first. It's a difficult balance at times, trying to earn a living and spending time with the family. Writing can often demand a lot and return very little, and that deep breath you mention is certainly recommended on a regular basis so that you can take stock.
Enjoy your writing!

Mark, this is better than any Sunday sermon.
"Positive thoughts can also transform your personal life and make a great many aspects of it better. But positive thoughts backed by action do not always lead to financial and commercial success, as these people dogmatically insist."
Sure we need positive thoughts and positive action, but sometimes the circumstances of our real life takes the driver's seat-our children HAVE to come first.

Our positive thoughts and dreams can still transform and motivate our daily lives. But our actions can be incremental steps where we learn, try, and keep on believing. Thanks for practical advice that it is okay to take a deep breath as we are climbing not-the-straight, but rather the winding road.

I am so glad to have read this post. I feel this same way every time I read one of those "science of achievement" or "positive thinking" diatribes. The concept is insulting to me, just as you have said, and I've tried before to get it down in words, but you've done an awesome job of it for me. Thank you.
