That's also obvious from the short video biogs they have ready for those they interview in-queue prior to auditioning. I think they are looking for the very good and very bad, both of which extremes are highly entertaining. My personal view is that there are no "plants" on stage (although plenty of vegetables). There are, sadly, more than enough real-life fruitcakes that the network shouldn't have to spend any money hiring actors in. It's something I may have to do before I die.
