My Online Earnings Progress Report

Posted by Monika in Freelance Writing-Bl... | 06.11.2007 - 9:06 pm

I got inspired to create an online earnings progress report after reading Amy Bass’s blog over at MyDebtFreeGoal.com. I don’t know Amy, as a matter of fact I stumbled across her inspiring blog not so long ago after reading a forum post. What inspired me was not only the fact on how she posts her earnings, but how honest she tells her story about debt and financial struggle.
So the idea to do post my earnings here on my blog was conceived. My journey is somewhat different if not similar to Amy’s. Back in 2004 I started in network marketing. For 2.5 years I poured all my energies and financial resources into my business. I attended all local and international events and spent thousands of dollars in the process. I worked hard at achieving success as it was displayed at the training events. I followed the advice of my mentors and advertised spending around $1,500 every single months on costs. On top of this were expenses such as internet connection, massive phone bills, and all the travel I did.

It is suffice to say that I spent myself out of business all the while hoping, that I will get my business builder the next month. I did grow a team, some stayed and many left which is the nature of this business in network marketing. When I reached the cut off stage of having no more money left I decided that was it! I had had enough of all the hyped up promises, the expenses, the lack of commitment from others.

Frankly I wanted an online business were I earned more money than spending it due to excessive business related costs. So I took a 6 months breather and went back to work. I had to help my husband to pay the bills. Plus it just wasn’t fair on him.
I started back in Jan 2007 and am now writing and blogging for profit. My aim is to replace my income I earn in my JOB within 18 months and stop working as an employee for once and all. I also want to help my husband to be able to quit his JOB and the sooner I can achieve this the better.

I realize that it won’t happen overnight. I think I do have enough experience to be able to know this now. ;-) Writing and Blogging are my passion and that is how I want to earn the chunk of my money. I also dabble in a bit of affiliate marketing and am currently exploring niche marketing which is going really well for starters. On my website I have listed many ways to get started online for free by writing and blogging. All that information is free. The only thing I get out of it is a referral if you decide to join underneath me. I would certainly appreciate this and thank you if you do.

The reason I provide this information is to help newcomers who struggle, just like I did. If I had known the information I know now, I would have avoided to make many mistakes. But then we learn from our mistakes, don’t we?

So from this week on, I will endeavor to list all my online earnings here on this page. Feel free to drop me a line on info @ thewritersmanifesto dot com should you have trouble or any questions with my listed programs. Ah, I nearly forgot, whatever is listed on the site, is actually also used by myself in my quest to become self employed for good!
Thanks for stopping by Monika Mundell ;-)

Michelle: that sounds really great, I checked out your blog and you put quite a bit of effort into it, well done! I totally u8nderstand your excitement. I still feel the same way after 8 month blogging on this blog.

HostGator coupons sounds like a great deal for those looking for a great webhost. I’m also using them and have been very pleased. :-)

On another note, your comments ended up in the spam folder which means somebody might have marked you as spam. You can rectify this by going to the akismet site and sending them an email asking you to rectify the situation.

Monika, I just found you site through Vic’s blog.
Your story reads like mine. I have been trying to make money online for over 2 years now and I have acquired many many thousands in debt trying to get this thing going. I have lost all my websites due to no money left to support them. Now I am starting fresh. I have gone back to work to pay down my debt and am learning to make money before I spend it. I have been building blogger blogs in hopes to gain Adsense income. I also write for Associated Content to get some other cash flow coming in. Unfortunately my writing needs a lot of improving. But in time it will get better. I am so glad to have found your blog and will definitely join your feed.
May you have a Great New Years and am anxious to keep hearing about your successes.

Denise: glad you stopped by. What is really fascinating is the fact that we can share our journeys together and seeing other people succeed is what keeps me inspired too. :-)

I am sure that if you stick to Vic’s and Grizzly’s teachings, you ought to make good money eventually. I intend to see this niche marketing through and work at it as hard as on my writing since it will provide me with residual income.

May you find success in 2008 too and I look forward to seeing you back here sometime.

Thanks for being so honest about your earnings, Monika. I too, often wonder about all these business expenses and hype. I haven’t found online writing to be very profitable. Do you think the market is saturated? Have you tried the magazine markets yet? E

Monika,

I’m curious–how are your earnings a year after you wrote this post? Have you attained your goal of being completely freelance?
